Clear Aligner Treatment

What Are Clear Aligners and How Do They Work?

Clear aligners are a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth without the brackets, wires, or food restrictions that come with traditional metal braces. Using a series of custom-made, removable plastic trays, clear aligners gradually shift teeth into correct position, each new tray moving teeth a precise amount further along the treatment plan.

At A-Dental Center, Dr. Fadi Elzayat, DDS, FICOI offers clear aligner treatment for adults and teens, including Invisalign®, ClearCorrect, and other aligner options tailored to your needs and budget.

Treatment begins with a digital scan using the iTero Scanner, no putty, no molds. The scan maps out the exact sequence of tooth movements. You wear each tray for 1 to 2 weeks, check in every 6 to 8 weeks, and most cases finish in 6 to 18 months.

Wear & Progress

New tray every 1 to 2 weeks, check-ins every 6 to 8 weeks

Retainer

Treatment complete, retainer holds your new smile

Wear 20 to 22 Hours Daily

Aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours per day for optimal results. Remove only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. Fewer hours slows treatment and causes trays to stop fitting correctly.

Care & Cleaning

Clean trays daily with a soft toothbrush and cool water only, hot water warps the plastic. Brush teeth before reinserting. Store unused trays in the provided case. Never eat with aligners in.

What to Expect

Mild pressure for 1 to 3 days after switching to a new tray is normal, teeth are moving. Speech may feel slightly altered for the first day or two, then returns to normal. Most patients adapt within the first week.

What Conditions Do Clear Aligners Treat?

  • Crowded Teeth — Overlapping or cramped teeth. The most common case type for clear aligners.
  • Gapped Teeth — Spaces from jaw size or missing teeth. Predictable closure in appropriate cases.
  • Overbite — Upper teeth overlap lower teeth excessively. Mild to moderate overbite treated effectively.
  • Underbite — Lower teeth protrude past upper. Mild cases treatable; moderate-severe may need combined approach.
  • Crossbite — Upper and lower teeth misaligned side-to-side. Can cause uneven wear and jaw strain.
  • Open Bite — Front teeth don't contact when back teeth are closed.
  • Midline Discrepancy — Upper and lower midlines don't align, affecting bite and facial symmetry.
  • Relapse After Braces — One of the most common adult aligner cases. Often a shorter course than the original treatment.
Complex cases: Severe skeletal misalignment, significantly impacted teeth, or cases requiring surgical intervention may not be suitable for aligners alone. Dr. Elzayat will tell you directly what clear aligners can and cannot do for your situation and what the best alternative would be if applicable.

Crowded Teeth Treatment in North Hollywood

Crowded teeth are the most common reason adults seek clear aligner treatment. When teeth overlap or are too close together, cleaning is harder and wear patterns become uneven. Clear aligners predictably correct mild to moderate crowding without brackets or wires.

Gap Teeth Treatment with Clear Aligners

Gaps between teeth can result from jaw size differences, missing teeth, or natural spacing. Clear aligners close gaps reliably in most cases, with results visible within the first few months of treatment.

Overbite Correction Without Braces

An overbite occurs when upper teeth overlap lower teeth excessively. Mild to moderate overbite is correctable with Invisalign® using specialized attachments and bite ramps, no traditional braces required.

Underbite and Crossbite Treatment Options

Mild underbites and crossbites are treatable with clear aligners. More significant skeletal discrepancies may require a combined approach. Dr. Elzayat will give you an honest assessment at your free consultation on what aligners can and cannot address in your specific case.

Strong Value Option

ClearCorrect

Best for Mild to Moderate Cases

A high-quality Invisalign® alternative using a slightly different tray material and treatment workflow. USA-manufactured, competitively priced, and produces excellent results for mild to moderate cases. For patients not committed to a specific brand, this is often the strong value option.

  • Excellent for mild to moderate crowding, spacing, bite
  • Often more affordable than Invisalign®
  • USA-manufactured aligner trays
  • Same clinical approach, different material

Most Affordable Entry

Generic Aligners

Best for Simple Cases

Non-branded aligner systems using the same fundamental principle of sequential plastic trays to move teeth. Appropriate for straightforward cases with limited movement needed and are typically the most affordable entry point for aligner treatment.

  • Best suited to simple, limited corrections
  • Most affordable option
  • Dr. Elzayat recommends based on your specific case
  • Same removable tray principle

😌

More Comfortable

No sharp wire ends or bracket edges. Pressure is controlled and gradual. Most patients adapt within the first few days of starting treatment.

FAQ

Clear Aligners FAQ

Invisalign® uses proprietary SmartTrack® material and ClinCheck® simulation software, with the broadest clinical case range and the largest treated-case database globally, best suited for complex cases. ClearCorrect is USA-manufactured at competitive pricing, producing excellent results for mild to moderate cases. Dr. Elzayat offers both and recommends the right system for your specific clinical situation — not the most expensive one.

For mild to moderate cases — crowding, spacing, minor bite issues — clear aligners produce equivalent clinical outcomes to traditional braces. For severe skeletal malocclusion or complex jaw issues, traditional braces may be more effective. Dr. Elzayat gives you an honest assessment for your specific case — not a generic marketing answer.

Mail-order companies skip the in-person dental exam. This means gum disease, bone loss, and bite problems go undetected before teeth are moved. The American Association of Orthodontists has documented cases of irreversible damage from unsupervised treatment. At A-Dental Center, every aligner case begins with a comprehensive clinical exam. There is no safe shortcut to moving teeth without professional oversight.

Mild cases: 6–12 months. Moderate cases: 12–18 months. Complex cases: up to 24 months. Your projected timeline is determined at the consultation based on your specific case — not a generic estimate.

20–22 hours per day. Removed only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth. Wearing them fewer hours slows treatment, causes aligners to stop fitting, and results in costly refinements.

Yes — relapse correction is one of the most common adult aligner uses. A shorter course of aligner treatment can restore your original result. Many of these cases complete in 6–12 months.

Clear aligners in our office range from $2,200 to $7,500 depending on system and case complexity. Traditional braces range from $3,000 to $8,000. Many patients find aligners to be comparable in cost — with significantly better lifestyle compatibility during treatment.

Many PPO dental plans include an orthodontic benefit (typically $1,000–$2,500 lifetime) that applies to Invisalign® and ClearCorrect. We verify your benefits before your appointment. We accept most major PPO plans.

For mild to moderate cases, both are excellent choices. For complex bite correction or cases requiring more clinical flexibility, Invisalign® has a broader toolkit. For budget-conscious patients with mild-moderate cases, ClearCorrect often provides equivalent results at lower cost. Dr. Elzayat gives you a direct recommendation at your free consultation — based on your clinical needs, not brand margin.

Yes — without retention, teeth drift back. This is true for both Invisalign® and ClearCorrect. Dr. Elzayat provides your retainer at the conclusion of treatment and a recommended wear schedule. Skipping the retainer is the #1 cause of orthodontic relapse.

“Clear aligners” is the general category — Invisalign® and ClearCorrect are specific brands within that category. They all use the same basic concept (custom clear trays changed progressively), but differ in material, clinical software, case range, and cost. → Full Invisalign® page  |  → Full ClearCorrect page
