Comfortable, Anxiety-Free Dental Care for Every Patient

Dental anxiety is one of the most common reasons people avoid the dentist and one of the most treatable. At A-Dental Center in North Hollywood, Dr. Fadi Elzayat, DDS, FICOI, offers sedation options designed to help even the most anxious patients receive the care they need in a calm, comfortable, judgment-free environment.

Whether you’re nervous about a routine cleaning or facing a more complex procedure, sedation dentistry can be the difference between getting care and postponing it for another year. We’ve been helping anxious patients across North Hollywood, Burbank, Studio City, and the San Fernando Valley since 1998.

Dr. Elzayat takes a completely non-judgmental approach. If anxiety has kept you away from the dentist, whether for months or years, you are not alone, and this practice was built around making care accessible to everyone.

Is Sedation Dentistry Right for You?

Sedation is not just for patients with severe phobias. It’s for anyone whose anxiety, physical sensitivity, or past experience gets in the way of dental care. You may benefit if any of these apply:

If any of these sound familiar — just mention it when you book. We’ll make sure you’re fully comfortable before we start anything.

Sedation Options at A-Dental Center

We offer two sedation options to match your comfort level, anxiety, and the procedure being performed. Both are safe, proven, and used routinely by Dr. Elzayat.

💨 Nitrous Oxide

Laughing Gas — Most Popular Option

A soft nasal mask delivers a gentle mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen throughout your procedure. Within minutes, you feel relaxed, calm, and pleasantly at ease. You remain fully awake and can communicate at any time.
The effects wear off within minutes of removing the mask — you can drive yourself home. Safe for most adults and children. Ideal for mild to moderate anxiety.

💊 Oral Sedation

Prescription Sedative — Deeper Relaxation

A prescription sedative taken about one hour before your appointment. By the time you arrive you’ll feel deeply relaxed and drowsy. You remain conscious and can respond to instructions.
You’ll likely have little memory of the procedure afterward. Ideal for moderate to severe anxiety or longer procedures. A responsible adult must drive you home.

🔹 Local Anesthesia — Always Included

All procedures at A-Dental Center include local anesthesia to ensure zero pain at the treatment site. It is used alongside sedation, not instead of it. Dr. Elzayat uses a slow, gentle injection technique specifically to minimize discomfort during the anesthetic itself.

The combination of sedation + local anesthesia means you feel neither pain nor anxiety during your procedure.

Which option is right for me?

Dr. Elzayat will review your anxiety level, medical history, and the procedure being performed and recommend the best option. Your comfort is always the priority.

What Our Patients Say

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About
Sedation Dentistry

Is sedation dentistry the same as being put to sleep?

No. The sedation options at A-Dental Center keep you conscious and able to communicate throughout your procedure. You feel deeply relaxed and calm, but you are not unconscious. General anesthesia, which renders patients fully unconscious, is used only in hospital settings for very complex oral surgery, not for the procedures performed at our North Hollywood office.

No. Sedation reduces anxiety and promotes relaxation, and it is always used alongside local anesthesia, which numbs the treatment area completely. The combination means you feel neither pain nor significant anxiety. Most patients say they feel nothing at all and are surprised by how straightforward the experience is.

After nitrous oxide, yes you can drive yourself home. Effects wear off within minutes of removing the mask. After oral sedation, you must have a responsible adult drive you home and plan to rest for the remainder of the day, as effects can last several hours.

Dr. Elzayat will discuss your anxiety level, health history, and the procedure being performed at your consultation and recommend the most appropriate option. Just mention your anxiety when booking, there's no judgment and no pressure. Your comfort and safety always come first.

Most patients with common conditions can safely receive nitrous oxide. Oral sedation requires a more thorough review of your health history and medications. Dr. Elzayat will review everything at your consultation and may request physician clearance if clinically indicated before recommending oral sedation.

Nitrous oxide is an affordable add-on to most procedures. Oral sedation involves the cost of the prescription medication. Many PPO dental insurance plans provide partial coverage when sedation is clinically indicated. We verify your insurance before your appointment so you know your out-of-pocket cost upfront. Call (818) 593-0700 for specific pricing.

Yes. Nitrous oxide is commonly and safely used for children who experience dental anxiety. Dr. Elzayat is experienced working with younger patients and will assess whether nitrous oxide is appropriate at their appointment. Oral sedation for children is evaluated case by case.

That's completely understandable and more common than you think. Call us at (818) 593-0700 and let our team know you're nervous. We'll take extra time on the phone to answer every question and make sure you feel comfortable before you even walk through the door. Our entire practice was built around patients who feel exactly like you do right now.

Yes this is important. Please provide a complete list of all medications, supplements, and health conditions when you book your sedation appointment. This allows Dr. Elzayat to confirm your chosen option is safe and appropriate, and to consult your physician if needed before your visit.

Anxiety doesn't have to stop you.

Call today — we'll go at whatever pace works for you.
