Congratulations! You’ve taken a big step toward enhancing your smile with Invisalign orthodontic straightening. We’ve made impressions of your teeth, generated computerized 3D images for each stage of progress, and created custom aligners. Now it is time to talk about keeping your aligners clear, and your mouth clean and odor-free while you straighten. My patients in the Hollywood area are typically very pleased with Invisalign results, especially when they develop these healthy hygiene habits early into the treatment plan.
It is time to rise and shine, knowing that you will look great all day while Invisalign gently moves your teeth into attractive positions.

Many patients today are opting for dental implants to replace missing teeth. However, dental bridges are still a sound solution for others who are not good candidates for, or simply do not want dental implants. Keeping a dental bridge clean is critical to your oral health and the lifespan of the restoration. One of the questions I often get with regard to dental bridges, from my North Hollywood patients, is how to floss properly. It isn’t difficult – it just takes the right tools and a little practice.
Flossing a dental bridge
Why worry about cleaning a bridge?
The pontic, or artificial tooth, in your bridge and the crowns that hold it in place are made of porcelain, so they cannot develop cavities. Natural tooth structure under the crowns, however, is susceptible to tooth decay. Negligent oral hygiene could lead to the need for more extensive dental work in the future. Plaque traps bits of food debris under the bridge, providing a feast for oral bacteria. Without thorough daily cleaning, gum disease may begin in this area and eventually spread to the rest of the mouth.

Missing teeth may be caused by poor oral hygiene, disease, or injury to the mouth. Regardless of how it happens, Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat and his team at A-Dental Center can provide a solution for replacement. Our practice offers three methods of tooth replacement – dental bridges, dentures, and dental implants. However, there is no “one size fits all” solution for every case of tooth loss. Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat will often suggest dental implants whenever he can because he feels they are the best option for most patients.
Dental implants can be used by North Hollywood area patients to replace one or more teeth. When used alone, the dental implant can replace a single tooth. It is installed into the bone of the jaw and then restored over the top with a dental crown to function as a false tooth. However, it looks completely natural within the dental arch. If patients need to anchor a dental bridge, they may also use dental implants. Dental implants are placed for patients who choose implant-supported dentures. Four to six implants are strategically placed into the bone of the jaw along the dental arch and the full denture is made to snap into place over the implants for stability and strength.
There are several benefits to using dental implants. First, they help in maintaining the bone. They use the bone to hold the restoration in place, but they also stimulate bone growth. This keeps patients from developing that “sunken in” appearance they may get if they were to choose traditional full dentures without implants. Second, with proper care, patients may enjoy their implants the rest of their lives. Implant procedures are 99 percent successful. Third, dental implants look and function just like natural teeth. They do not require any special care or attention. Patients are still urged to visit their dentist at least twice a year for an examination and to have their restorations evaluated by a professional.

Maintaining your oral health is important to good overall health, which has an impact on your quality of life and personal image. When a look in the mirror doesn’t reveal that same radiant smile you used to have, you might want to consider teeth whitening options. Even a glance into this topic will yield many choices, and knowing which one is right for you may be very confusing. Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat and the A-Dental Center staff are happy to share advice regarding retail vs. professional, at-home vs. in-office, and other details that will lead to the teeth whitening method best suited for your individualized need.
To brighten your smile quickly and professionally in our office, we use the Zoom! teeth whitening system. You will experience immediate results by spending as little as an hour in our office. This process is desirable because it is administered by experienced dental staff, and techniques are employed to give you the most comfortable experience and satisfying outcome. Your teeth will be professionally cleaned by our hygienist first to allow optimal effectiveness of the whitening agent. If you are prone to sensitivity from teeth whitening products, you may find this process preferable. You will attain dramatic results quickly because of the stronger agents at work, but also feel at ease knowing they are being administered by trained professionals. Any concerns with matching the color to existing dental work, such as crowns and bridges, are placed in our competent hands, as well, ensuring dazzling results.
If you are interested in a more gradual result, we also offer an at-home process. This system is done in the privacy of your own home. It still, however, far exceeds what you can expect from products bought in a retail store. Our take-home system is customized for you, so that you have input upfront and know what results to anticipate, rather than the entire process being an experiment with a random store product. You may also enjoy the benefit of being able to continue to use the system as desired over time to help you maintain your results from the initial whitening treatment.
A radiant smile is best kept by practicing regular oral hygiene. Consistent care at home, such as brushing and flossing, is extremely important, as are regular visits with your dentist. We invite you to schedule your next appointment with A-Dental Center and consult us regarding teeth whitening options or questions. We want to keep your smile bright for years to come!
